Reading Instruction for Students with Dyslexia
We offer tutoring using the Orton-Gillingham method. We begin with a simple assessment for placement and work with individuals and small groups of up to four students. We craft an individual program to suit the student’s needs.
The instructional program is highly structured, sequential, and relies on frequent sessions for best results. Tutoring is typically done five days a week during after-school hours.
Instruction in the Orton-Gillingham approach to teaching reading will alternate with multi-sensory learning activities in order to allow for maximum instructional time for students with different arrival times.
Students should attend a minimum of 60 minutes per day for full benefit from the program. Students are encouraged to attend more than 60 minutes per day within the program hours.
Consultations may be scheduled for parents who wish to provide help for their child at home, as a stand-alone approach or as a supplement to tutoring.
